here on saltspring island B.C. not the best place for them but they will be on two different farms with very large organic flower gardens. anybody have experience with bees in this general area. i will be visiting a bee farmer here on the island soon but any other input could be valuable. I have not purchased the queen bee and colony yet if anyone has resources that way. We are going to have honey bees but not so much for taking they're honey i just want the little cuties buzzin round all over the place.

Re: starting couple of bee hives
Fri, August 17, 2007 - 10:41 AMi see this was posted originally many months ago. if you have not found one already, i bet there is a local organization of beekeepers in the area. if you can't fnd a local club, perhaps there is a bigger club for all of the province

Re: starting couple of bee hives
Mon, August 20, 2007 - 8:48 PMI was just at UBC Farm this weekend talking to the bee man there and he said a good place for resources, equipment etc. is the Honey Bee Centre in Surrey. I'll be checking it out. Apparently you can keep honey bees on your balcony!!
