does anyone here have experience hunting for bee hives in the wild? i've only found brief remarks about the practice in old homesteading books and was wondering if anyone here had any tip. a friend and i tried for 6 hours only to find a man made hive when we were in florida. thanks.

Sat, March 28, 2009 - 3:45 PMThere is a series of books, written about the childhood of Rose Wilder Lane, daughter of Laura Ingalls Wilder. In one of the eariler books Rose and a hired man from the farm follow bees to the wild hive, so they can move the hive into a bee gum. The description is fairly good of how they did it. The books should be at the library.
